"It's Okay To Not Be Okay" And "I-LAND" Nominated For 2021 International Emmy Awards
On September 23, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced their nominations for the 2021 International Emmy Awards.
The best-known Emmy Awards are the Primetime Emmy Awards, which are given by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and recognizes programming in American primetime television. The International Emmy Awards recognizes television programming that is originally produced and aired outside of the United States.
The 2021 International Emmy Awards announced 44 nominees across 11 categories and 24 countries, including but not limited to Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Egypt, France, India, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.
South Korea’s two nominees at the 2021 International Emmy Awards were both produced by CJ ENM, a major media and entertainment company that owns content production networks and companies like Mnet, tvN, OCN, Studio Dragon, and many more.
In the Non-Scripted Entertainment category, the survival audition show “I-LAND,” which was jointly produced by CJ ENM and Big Hit Entertainment (as it was then known), was nominated. “I-LAND” eventually launched the debut of the boy group ENHYPEN, signed under BELIFT LAB, a joint venture between Big Hit (now HYBE) and CJ ENM.
In the TV Movie/Mini-Series category, the drama “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” produced by Studio Dragon and broadcast on tvN, was nominated. The drama aired from June to August 2020 and starred Kim Soo Hyun, Seo Ye Ji, Oh Jung Se, and Park Gyu Young in a story about the romance between a psych ward caretaker and an antisocial children’s book writer.
The winners of the 2021 International Emmy Awards will be announced at a ceremony held in New York City on November 22.
