BTOB's Yook Sungjae Updates Fans On His Status After Early Discharge From Military Service
On October 1, BTOB’s Yook Sungjae held an Instagram Live broadcast to talk to fans.
During the broadcast, Yook Sungjae shared that he had been discharged early from his military service on September 26. In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, soldiers are not required to return to their base after their last vacation, effectively resulting in an early discharge.
Yook Sungjae said, “Last Sunday, I went on my last vacation before my discharge. I was with my parents until now. I’m glad that I can share my status with everyone like this.” About his military service, he said, “I stayed really healthy and did well. I think that I did well enough to heal all the things I’d gone through. I really missed having an ordinary life like this.”
He shared his love for Melody, BTOB’s fandom, and said, “Every day, I’d check social media and see that a lot of people were waiting for me to come back. Thanks to you all, I was able to finish my military service in good health. I also saw the advertisement that the fans put up in New York’s Times Square last year. I’ve gotten used to having short hair and it’s really comfortable. It feels like just yesterday that I went to the salon to have it cut, but time goes by really fast.”
Yook Sungjae also talked about the other members of BTOB. “[Eunkwang] must have had a tough time leading BTOB without me. I want to start promoting again soon. I haven’t been able to meet them yet because of COVID-19. I want to hurry up and meet them soon.”
Yook Sungjae enlisted on May 11, 2020, and his official discharge date is November 14, 2021.
