Lee Sang Yi Is Torn Between His Feelings For Shin Min Ah & His Friendship With Kim Seon Ho On 'Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha'

Will Kim Seon Ho and Lee Sang Yi’s friendship survive on “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha”?

A remake of the film “Mr. Hong,” “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” is a tvN romance drama starring Shin Min Ah as Yoon Hye Jin, a dentist who moves from Seoul to the seaside village of Gongjin, and Kim Seon Ho as Hong Doo Shik, an odd-job expert who helps everyone around town. Lee Sang Yi plays Ji Sung Hyun, a famous variety show PD (producing director) who happens to know Yoon Hye Jin from school.

Spoilers

Previously on “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” Sung Hyun and Doo Shik struck up a friendship when the PD came to Gongjin to film his new variety show. However, things became complicated when the two men wound up in a love triangle with Yoon Hye Jin at its center. With Sung Hyun actively pursuing Hye Jin and expressing his feelings for her, it became difficult for him to ignore the obvious chemistry between her and Doo Shik, especially when Doo Shik pretended to be her boyfriend in front of her parents.

To make things even more complicated, Sung Hyun finally confessed his feelings to Hye Jin on the latest episode of the drama—but Hye Jin ended the episode by confessing her own feelings to Doo Shik, which led to the couple sharing their first kiss. Although Hye Jin and Doo Shik’s romance has finally blossomed, Sung Hyun is still blissfully unaware that the duo has moved past friendship.

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episode, there is a strangely awkward tension between Sung Hyun and Doo Shik as they hang out together. Sung Hyun seems to be searching Doo Shik’s expression for something as he carefully watches his friend’s reactions, and Doo Shik can’t hide his concern as he gazes worriedly back at Sung Hyun.

Meanwhile, other photos capture the typically cheerful Sung Hyun looking distraught and conflicted as he drinks by himself late at night. The sight of Sung Hyun sad and alone, with his usual sunny smile nowhere to be found, tugs at viewers’ heartstrings—and raises the question of what he is pondering on his own.

The producers of “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” revealed, “Lee Sang Yi’s detailed and emotional acting in the scene where Sung Hyun drinks alone made even the staff on set hold their breath as they watched. We think many people will be able to empathize deeply with Sung Hyun, who can’t help debating between his feelings of love for Hye Jin and his friendship with Doo Shik.”

They continued, “Episode 11, which airs on October 2, will particularly feature a whirlwind of Hye Jin, Doo Shik, and Sung Hyun’s emotions. You can safely look forward to the changes faced by the love triangle consisting of the ‘Shik-Hye couple,’ who have just now confirmed their feelings for each other, and Sung Hyun.”

The next episode of “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” will air on October 2 at 9 p.m. KST.
