Yoo Ah In, Lee Byung Hun, And More Win At The 15th Asian Film Awards

On October 8, the 15th Asian Film Awards (AFA) were held in the Grand Ballroom of the Busan Paradise Hotel.

The annual Asian Film Awards are organized by the Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA), founded through a collaboration between the Busan, Tokyo, and Hong Kong film festivals.

At the 15th AFA, the Japanese film “Wife of a Spy” won Best Film. The Korean film “Voice of Silence” won two awards, one to Hong Eui Jung for Best New Director and the other to Yoo Ah In for Best Actor. Lee Byung Hun, who won Best Actor last year, won the Asian Film Excellence Award.

Yoo Ah In said, “The movie gave me a chance to think as an actor about the meaning of saying lines, the meaning of sound. I especially want to thank director Hong Eui Jung. I’m also grateful to director Lee Chang Dong, whom I’m seeing here for the first time in a while. Thank you for allowing me to live as an actor and giving me life.”

Best Supporting Actress: Makita Aju (“True Mothers” – Japan)

Best Supporting Actor: Kim Hyun Bin (“The Silent Forest”) (actor – Korea, film – Taiwan)

Best Costume Design: Koketsu Haruki (“Wife of a Spy” – Japan)

Best Cinematography: Masud Amini Tirani (“The Wasteland” – Iran)
