BLACKPINK's Jennie Talks Being The Face Of Chanel's Global Campaign, Attending Paris Fashion Week, And More
BLACKPINK’s Jennie recently shot a pictorial for W Korea!
In addition to her successful music career in BLACKPINK, Jennie is the face of luxury fashion brand Chanel’s global campaign “Coco Neige 2021/22 Collection.” For the W Korea photo shoot, Jennie dressed in winter clothes and skiwear from the collection that was inspired by creative director Virginie Viard’s vision of a mountain covered in snow.
Jennie said, “Even just the news that I was participating in the campaign felt like a dream. I felt a heavy sense of responsibility, but also that much more excitement.”
Jennie also attended Chanel’s 2022 Spring/Summer collection show during Paris Fashion Week in early October. She said, “It was my first time attending a fashion show in a long time and I was really excited. It had the bright and lively atmosphere of the 1980s and the models walked with fun expressions and poses. The bright pops of the flashes and the noise of the shutters from the photographers also added a sense of vividness to the scene. All the clothes were beautiful, so it’s difficult to pick just one… But the muslin dress that appeared last in the show was the most memorable for me. You could really feel the mood of the 80s and 90s. I also liked that the accessories matched it well.”
Jennie shared what accessories mean for her personal fashion taste. “Accessories are a required item to complete my look,” she said. “You can express your tastes and ideas through how you match your accessories, and they play an important role in deciding the tone of your overall look.”
About the Coco Neige collection, she said, “I think that all the clothes in the collection have their own appeal. I was surprised by how Virginie Viard brought out the elegance in skiwear and made a diverse and unpredictable collection feel complete. In my music career, I also try to think about how to tell a story through the melody, and how to think of styles that match the song without being trapped into a specific concept. That’s how you can keep things diverse and fun time after time. I’m a fan of winter sports, and I can’t wait to go skiing while wearing the Coco Neige collection this winter.”
