BTS Receives 3 Nominations For 2021 American Music Awards Including Artist Of The Year
BTS has been nominated for three categories at the upcoming 2021 American Music Awards!
The nominations for the 2021 American Music Awards were announced on October 28. According to Billboard, the nominees are based on “key fan interactions,” which include streaming, album sales, song sales, and radio airplay. Tracked by Billboard and MRC Data, the nominations cover the time period between September 25, 2020 and September 23, 2021.
For the first time ever, BTS is nominated for Artist of the Year, alongside Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd.
BTS was also nominated for Favorite Pop Duo or Group for the third year in a row, and BTS’s “Butter” was nominated for Favorite Pop Song. Other songs in that category include Doja Cat (feat. SZA)’s “Kiss Me More,” Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license,” and The Weeknd and Ariana Grande’s “Save Your Tears (Remix).”
Last year, BTS, NCT 127, and EXO were nominated for the Favorite Social Artist Award (won by BTS). This year, the category is not on the current list of nominations.
The 2021 American Music Awards will broadcast from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 21.
