Former Boy Group Member And Solo Power Vocalist Shares His Big Dreams On "The King Of Mask Singer"
On the November 7 episode of MBC’s “The King of Mask Singer,” the challenge for the 164th crown continued.

The first match-up of Round 2 was between Kkakdugi and Happy Halloween. Kkakdugi sang Fly to the Sky’s “Sea of Love,” while Happy Halloween sang Kim Gun Mo’s “Foolish.” Happy Halloween won the round and advanced to Round 3, while Kkakdugi unmasked to reveal himself as former 5tion member and actor Lee Hyun.
Next up was Unbelievable, who covered a rearranged rock version of Wanna One’s “Pick Me.” He was up against Ending Fairy, who also covered a rock version of aespa’s “Next Level.” Wanna One member Yoon Ji Sung, who was on the panel, was shocked when he heard the lyrics, not having recognized the song during its rearranged opening, and said, “It was unspeakably cool.” However, Ending Fairy advanced to the next round and Unbelievable unmasked to reveal himself as Shinchon Blues’ vocalist Kim Sang Woo, who is currently working as both a singer and photographer.
In Round 3, Happy Halloween covered Ali’s “365 Days,” while Ending Fairy sang Jo Yong Pil’s “Walking Along with You.” With 17 votes to 4, Happy Halloween moved on to challenge the current champion for their crown, while Ending Fairy unmasked to reveal himself as fellow Wanna One member and current solo artist Kim Jae Hwan.
Yoon Ji Sung joked, “That’s not the person I was expecting.” Kim Jae Hwan replied, “He cheered me on a lot today but I regret that I wasn’t able to do as well as I would have liked. Next time, I’ll sing better for you at karaoke.”
Ha Dong Kyun, also a panelist, said, “When Yoo Sung Eun and I were in the same agency, Kim Jae Hwan was a trainee there. He’s really good at playing guitar and he’s really good at singing. I’ve been watching him since Wanna One and over his solo career as well. It seems like he’s improving by leaps and bounds. I’m proud of him.”
Kim Jae Hwan said, “I didn’t get to hear this praise back then. He was the person I looked up to when I was a trainee. He was really cool, a real artist, and I wanted to be an artist like him. Like him, I want to be a singer who can sing for a long time and make people’s hearts move with my voice.”
Asked about his goals as a solo singer, he said, “I want to keep knocking at the door of ‘The King of Mask Singer’ and win the crown.” Kim Jae Hwan previously advanced as far as challenging the champion in 2018. He continued, “If I appear ten times, then wouldn’t I get it at least once? I don’t know if I can say this on TV, but hasn’t BTS opened the road for this? I want to take just one step on that path and get in the top 100 on Billboard. Although it’s tough for me to do that in Korea too.”
In the end, the current champion, Bear Paw, defended their crown with Deulgukhwa’s “Train to the World,” and Happy Halloween unmasked to reveal herself as singer Won Mi Yeon.
