Watch: Lee Jin Wook, Kwon Nara, Lee Joon, And More Share Insight Into Their Roles At Script Reading For New Fantasy Drama
tvN shared a new behind-the-scenes video from the script reading for the upcoming weekend drama “Bulgasal” (literal title)!
“Bulgasal” is a fantasy drama about a woman who has experienced many reincarnations over the past 600 years while remembering all her past lives and a man who is immortal and has lived for over 600 years as a bulgasal, a mythical creature that feeds on human blood.
The new making-of video begins with the actors sharing their thoughts on the title. Kwon Nara and Lee Joon mention that they first thought of the word “bulgasari,” which means starfish in Korean, while Gong Seung Yeon, Jung Jin Young, and Park Myung Shin remark that they’ve heard of the term bulgasal in traditional folklore. UP10TION’s Kim Woo Seok shares that the title reminds him of immortality, and Lee Jin Wook finally explains that a bulgasal is an immortal being who doesn’t die or age that existed in ancient times on the Korean peninsula.
Lee Jin Wook will play the role of the bulgasal named Dan Hwal. He shares, “A really long time ago, he was human, but he experiences an incident that makes him a bulgasal, and he dreams of getting revenge. He’s a being who lives to get revenge.”
Kwon Nara will be taking on the role of Min Sang Woon, the woman who keeps getting reincarnated while fleeing from the bulgasal that is pursuing her. The actress reveals, “She has a lot of pain because she experienced many tragedies when she was young, but she’s a character who tries to win and overcome that pain.” Kwon Nara comments that the drama’s fantasy elements will intrigue viewers while Lee Jin Wook tosses the question, “Since he was born human and became a bulgasal, will immortality really be a blessing?”
Lee Joon will play Ok Eul Tae, whom he introduces as a refreshing and energetic person with a good personality. Lee Joon shares, “He’s a mysterious figure about whom nothing has been revealed yet.”
Gong Seung Yeon will transform into Dan Sol, Dan Hwal’s wife 600 years ago. The actress reveals, “She has a really special ability, so people are scared of Dan Sol and avoid her. She was forced to marry Dan Hwal by her father.”
Jung Jin Young introduces his character Dan Geuk, who is Dan Sol’s father. The actor shares, “He was a great general who was military officer 600 years ago.” Park Myung Shin plays Munyeo (a female shaman), who lived 600 years ago. Park Myung Shin explains, “She’s a character who predicts the entire process in which Dan Hwal becomes a bulgasal and watches out for him.” Finally, Kim Woo Seok shares, “I’ll be playing Nam Do Yoon, who doesn’t feel overpowered by the bulgasal and follows him around like he’s an older brother.”
