Watch: Shim Dal Gi Panics When Someone Finds Out About Her Double Life In "Shadow Beauty"

Kakao TV has released a chilling trailer for their upcoming drama “Shadow Beauty”!

Based on a webtoon, “Shadow Beauty” is about a high school student named Goo Ae Jin, who is a bullied loner at school (played by Shim Dal Gi). However, she leads a double life online as a social media star and influencer named “Genie,” who is renowned for her flawless looks (played by fromis_9’s Lee Nagyung).

The new teaser begins with Goo Ae Jin putting on makeup and photoshopping her photos to transform herself into Genie. In a dark room alone at night, she laughs like crazy while obsessively checking her social media accounts. At school, however, the other girls bully her relentlessly about her looks, and when she tries to wear lipstick, the girls physically and verbally mock her.

Goo Ae Jin takes pride in her secret identity, and when her only friend, Lee Jin Sung (PENTAGON’s Hongseok), tells her, “Somehow I find myself believing everything you say,” she replies quietly, “I’m really good at lying though.” But her world is blown apart when she gets a DM (direct message) telling her that they’ve seen “Genie” in real life and that they know what she really looks like.

Goo Ae Jin suspects that it’s one of the other students at her school who knows her secret. The other girls’ bullying grows worse as they try to take her phone away, spiraling Goo Ae Jin into a full-blown panic. Among the other students, Kim Ho In (Golden Child’s Bomin), who seems like an ordinary model student but keep his inner self well-hidden, gives her a mysterious smile at the front of the classroom. In the end, Goo Ae Jin is confronted by a tall student and she whispers, “It was you?”
