Hyeri Turns To Making "Moonshine" To Ensure Her Family's Survival In Teasers For New Historical Drama
KBS has released new stills of Hyeri in the upcoming historical drama “Moonshine” (also known as “When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon”).
Set during the period of the Joseon era when prohibition laws were at their strongest, “Moonshine” is a drama about the romance between Kang Ro Seo (Hyeri), a struggling aristocrat who starts illegally making alcohol in order to support her family, and Nam Young (Yoo Seung Ho), Joseon’s greatest inspector who is known for living a very principled life.
The new stills show how Kang Ro Seo became a purveyor of moonshine (illegal alcohol). When her father dies, she becomes a day laborer in order to put food on the table. Although the other aristocrats turn their backs on her, she lives cheerfully and energetically in hopes that her older brother, Kang Hae Soo (Bae Yoo Ram), will pass the gwageo, the highest-level state examination to become a government official.
However, disaster after disaster befalls Kang Ro Seo and her family. Determined to raise his family’s social status again, Kang Hae Soo incurs an enormous debt. At her wit’s end, Kang Ro Seo happens by chance on the world of illegal alcohol brewing, and decides to go down this dangerous path despite living in a period where both drinking and making alcohol is illegal.
The production staff stated, “During a time when alcohol has been made a sin, for a person like Kang Ro Seo, who always gets back up again after a fall, it becomes her only hope.”
“Moonshine” premieres on December 20. Check out a teaser here!
