Twitter Reveals BTS's #StopAsianHate Tweet Was Most Retweeted Tweet Of 2021
BTS made an important mark on Twitter in 2021!
On December 9 local time, Twitter published its year-end “2021 #OnlyOnTwitter” report, which summed up the biggest tweets of the year.
According to Twitter, the most retweeted tweet of 2021 was BTS’s meaningful #StopAsianHate tweet from March. In the wake of a disturbing rise in hate crimes against Asians, BTS posted a statement speaking out against racism and violence, which has since gone on to rack up over a million retweets.

The third and fifth most retweeted tweets of the year were also BTS-related: third place went to Billboard’s tweet announcing that “Butter” had topped the Hot 100 for a ninth non-consecutive week (thus overtaking Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” to become the longest-running No. 1 hit of 2021). Fifth place went to a tweet by the Recording Academy/GRAMMYs teasing BTS’s performance at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
Additionally, #BTS was the most used hashtag on Twitter in 2021.
On a more lighthearted note, while three out of five of this year’s most liked tweets were about U.S. president Joe Biden’s inauguration, Jungkook’s kissy-face selfie from January was the second most liked tweet of 2021.
