Yoo Jae Suk's TV Shows Announce Plans After His COVID-19 Diagnosis

After Yoo Jae Suk was confirmed to have a breakthrough infection of COVID-19, his TV shows shared their plans going forward.

On December 13, Yoo Jae Suk’s agency announced that he had come into close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case on December 11. He took a PCR test immediately and received a negative result, but was classified as a contact who required manual monitoring. He took another test on the morning of December 13 and tested positive. His agency also clarified that he was fully vaccinated in September.

For “Running Man,” SBS stated, “Yoo Jae Suk did not attend today’s filming (December 13) because there was a suspicion that he could have COVID-19 during the self-diagnosis examination before filming began. Filming proceeded without Yoo Jae Suk, but we have not yet decided our plans for future filming.”

For “How Do You Play?”, the production staff stated, “After Yoo Jae Suk’s COVID-19 diagnosis on December 13, all the cast and crew on ‘How Do You Play?’ are getting PCR tests for COVID-19. We have decided that it is now impossible to carry out the ‘Dotori Festival’ as we had planned on December 15. We are contacting all those who were selected to attend, and we will release further information about the new schedule once the safety of our audience and artists can be assured. Like the viewers, the production staff of ‘How Do You Play?’ will wait patiently and follow the COVID-19 guidelines faithfully until the day that Yoo Jae Suk can make his healthy return to filming. This week’s episode will air as usual on Saturday at 6:25 p.m. KST.”

For the 2021 SBS Entertainment Awards, SBS confirmed that Yoo Jae Suk would no longer be attending the awards show, which is scheduled for December 18.

For “You Quiz on the Block,” tvN stated, “This week’s recording will be canceled. This week’s episode will air as usual since it’s already recorded, but the schedule for the following weeks will be announced once it is confirmed. The production staff will continue to follow the disease control authorities’ guidelines and ensure the health and safety of our cast and crew.”

It was also reported that Jung Joon Ha (“How Do You Play?”) and Jo Se Ho (“You Quiz on the Block”) had tested negative, while HaHa (“Running Man,” “How Do You Play?”) and Mijoo (“How Do You Play?”) were waiting for their results, which will be out tomorrow.

Yoo Jae Suk was supposed to have attended the wedding of Lee Ye Rim, Lee Kyung Kyu‘s daughter, on December 11. However, he personally contacted Lee Kyung Kyu on the day of the wedding to say that he could not attend.
