Comedian Kim Chul Min Passes Away After Battle With Cancer

Comedian and musician Kim Chul Min has passed away at the age of 54.

It was reported that he passed away on December 16 at the Korea Cancer Center Hospital hospice ward, where he was admitted earlier that day. His wake is being held at the funeral parlor in the hospital.

Kim Chul Min was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in 2019. For the past two years, he has shared his treatment journey on social media, where he remained positive about his diagnosis and potential recovery. On December 10, he shared his final farewell on social media with the message, “Thanks to everyone, I was happy. Thank you, I love you.”

His longtime friend, DJ Hasim, wrote, “Your trip on Earth has ended and you’ve returned to your original place in heaven. I am grateful for the time we had. I love and respect you and may you rest in peace.” Producing director Lee Heon Hee of “AM Plaza” wrote, “The man of Daehak-ro, singer Kim Chul Min of AM Plaza’s Dream Challenge who loved to perform on stage! Go in peace, my heart is in pain.”

Kim Chul Min debuted as a comedian in 1994 with MBC. He also received a lot of love as a busking musician on Daehak-ro in the 1980s.
