Watch: Kim Nam Gil Probes The Dark Mind Of A Killer In Teaser For Drama About 1st Criminal Profiler In Korea
SBS’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama “Through the Darkness” has released its first teaser!
“Through the Darkness” is a drama about the first criminal profiler in Korea who looked into the hearts of serial killers at a time when random, motiveless murders were on the rise.
The new teaser begins with the words, “I remember feeling like I had entered a dark room through a door that I could only pass through once.” These are the direct words of Professor Kwon Il Yong, the first criminal profiler in South Korea, on whom the drama is based.
As the teaser shows, the drama is set in the late 1990s, when there were several random and motiveless murder cases. A woman walks in the rain, followed by sinister footsteps. After the sound of a scream, a news anchor reports on the case. In the middle of these dark times, Kim Nam Gil (playing the role of Song Ha Young) emerges. Even when face-to-face with a criminal, he doesn’t blink. Jin Sun Kyu (playing Guk Young Soo) says to him, “Have you heard of a profiler? They analyze criminal behavior, but with an open mind, intuition, common sense, and analytical skills. Ha Young, I’m sure that that’s a perfect fit for you.”
Accompanied by the words, “A dangerous conversation with serial killers,” Kim Nam Gil and Jin Sun Kyu begin to chase down the serial killers and read their hearts. A serial killer who kills without motive never stops at one, with terrifying lines like, “Those who have tasted it once can’t stop,” “You haven’t died yet?”, and “Oh, there’s another one.”
The words “Walk into the minds of evil. The birth of the nation’s first profiler” pop up on screen as Kim Nam Gil vows, “This won’t end here. I will definitely catch that person.”
“Through the Darkness” premieres on January 14 at 10 p.m. KST.
