Apink's Son Naeun Shares Keywords To Describe Her Character In "Ghost Doctor," Her Synchronization With Her Role, And More

Apink’s Son Naeun talked about her role in the upcoming tvN drama “Ghost Doctor”!

Helmed by “Heirs” director Boo Sung Chul, “Ghost Doctor” is a fantasy medical drama about two doctors who could not be more different in terms of their backgrounds, skills, or personalities but who end up combining bodies and spirits.

Rain will star as genius thoracic surgeon Cha Young Min, while Kim Bum will play silver-spoon resident Go Seung Tak. Son Naeun will play emergency room intern Oh Soo Jung, who believes in supernatural phenomena and miracles despite studying medicine, and Uee will play neurosurgeon Jang Se Jin, who happens to be Cha Young Min’s ex-girlfriend.

Son Naeun described her character, saying, “Oh Soo Jung is an enthusiastic emergency room intern who believes in miracles and supernatural phenomena. I think she will show pleasant energy in the drama with her silly yet bold sides. I’m so grateful to be able to play Oh Soo Jung, and I’m thinking that I should work harder to show you a good side by portraying this character in my own way.”

She added, “In addition to showing Oh Soo Jung’s bold and bright appearance, I focused on her vibe and facial expressions to arouse strange curiosity [about her] from time to time. I thought a lot about how to capture Oh Soo Jung’s narrative with the way she carefully looks at Go Seung Tak with suspicion and her belief in supernatural phenomena without any lines.”

For keywords to describe her character, Son Naeun picked “passion,” “secret,” and “grandfather.” She explained, “Oh Soo Jung is a passionate person who wants to be a doctor like her grandfather despite her mother’s opposition. Also, since he has her own secret, I think these are keywords that can express her well.”

On her similarities with her character, Son Naeun revealed, “In reality, I think Oh Soo Jung and I are 50 percent alike. We both have passion about our goals and what we want to do, and we’re both bright, but she seems more fearless and brave than me.”

Finally, the actress added, “‘Ghost Doctor’ is a drama where humor and lingering emotions coexist. It gives you refreshing pleasure with its fantasy elements, but as it deals with stories that take place in the hospital, you can sometimes feel the heavy lingering emotions because of its humane aspects.”
