Han Hyo Joo, Kang Ha Neul, And Lee Kwang Soo Turn Into Fortune-Seekers In "The Pirates" Sequel

The highly-anticipated sequel to the hit film “The Pirates” shared a new glimpse of Han Hyo Joo, Kang Ha Neul, and Lee Kwang Soo in character!

“The Pirates: Goblin Flag,” the long-awaited sequel to the 2014 movie “The Pirates,” is a period action-adventure comedy about a group of fortune-seekers who take to the high seas searching for lost treasure.

Kang Ha Neul will star in the film as Woo Moo Chi, a bandit leader who claims to be the top swordsman in Goryeo, while Han Hyo Joo will star as the tough pirate captain and ship owner Hae Rang. Lee Kwang Soo will play Mak Yi, who dreams of becoming a pirate king; EXO‘s Sehun will play Han Goong, a talented archer; and Kwon Sang Woo will play villain Boo Heung Soo, a rebel who also sets his sights on the lost treasure.

First off, Han Hyo Joo’s character Hae Rang is a pirate with good judgements and strong leadership. Not only does she overflow with charisma, but she’s also warmhearted, and she is very competent in martial arts. She often bickers with Woo Moo Chi, but they show amazing teamwork at decisive moments. Han Hyo Joo flawlessly depicted the hot-and-cold nature of Hae Rang, and she also fully showcased high-level action skills after three months of steady training.

Woo Moo Chi has excellent swordsmanship skills, but he somehow ends up on Hae Rang’s pirate ship. Despite the fact that he’s on a ship full of pirates who try to bring him down, he doesn’t get discouraged and continuously goes boasting about his past reputation as the nation’s best swordsman. Kang Ha Neul, who showed a wide range of character interpretation in various projects, will display both Woo Moo Chi’s humorous and serious natures.

Mak Yi aspires to be a pirate king and continuously eyes Hae Rang’s position as the leader of the pirates. Despite his big dreams and overflowing will, he is very clumsy and causes problems wherever he goes. Lee Kwang Soo will perfectly portray the comical charms of Mak Yi as well as completely immerse into his role with his unique appearance that includes a bizarre hairstyle and outrageous costumes.
