Lee Si Eon Apologizes Over Photos Showing Guests Unmasked At His Wedding

Lee Si Eon apologized for the controversy over photos of unmasked guests circulating from his wedding.

Actors Lee Si Eon and Seo Ji Seung tied the knot at a small wedding on Jeju Island on December 25. Lee Si Eon’s castmates from MBC’s “Home Alone” attended the wedding and shared photos and videos, some of which showed the guests without masks.

On December 26, Lee Si Eon wrote on Instagram:

This is my apology regarding the taking off of masks during the bouquet photos from our wedding on December 25. The entire wedding was held in accordance with COVID-19 prevention protocols, and everyone was masked as required.

There was a suggestion that we take off masks just for the moment in which the bride throws the bouquet. I did not think deeply about the request and went ahead with it, and I am sincerely sorry about this.

I am also deeply sorry for causing concern to the guests, who came to congratulate us. I will be more careful in future. Once again, I want to say that I’m sorry.

According to the current social distancing guidelines in the area, the bride, groom, and their parents may remain unmasked without paying fines, but the attendees must all be masked unless they are consuming food. After Park Na Rae shared the video of the throwing of the bouquet, where many guests appeared unmasked, she explained that masks were only taken off for the footage.

Later, Park Na Rae also apologized on Instagram, writing, “I’m sorry for going unmasked during parts of Lee Si Eon’s wedding at a time when the entire nation is working hard to follow social distancing protocols. I wear masks all the time as required in my daily life, except when I am filming, but I have caused concern due to a moment’s misjudgment. At the time, the bride’s friend suggested on the fly that the people involved in the throwing of the bouquet should go unmasked, and I went along with the suggestion. That was a grave mistake and misjudgment. In future, I will not forget the social distancing protocols no matter what the location or situation. I have deleted the photos and videos in question.”
