BTS's V’s 'Christmas Tree' Sets Record For Longest-Running Korean Song At No. 1 On Japan's iTunes Chart

BTS’s V has made K-pop history on both the Oricon and iTunes charts in Japan!

On January 13, V’s solo song “Christmas Tree” was finally officially released in Japan, several weeks after it was first released in Korea as part of the soundtrack for Choi Woo Shik‘s drama “Our Beloved Summer.”

Immediately upon its release, “Christmas Tree” debuted at No. 1 on Oricon’s daily digital singles chart. The song racked up a total of 11,771 downloads in Japan on just its first day, setting a new record for the highest number of first-day downloads ever achieved by any Korean soloist.

“Christmas Tree” also soared to No. 1 on Japan’s iTunes Top Songs chart just two hours after its release, and as of January 16, it has stayed there for over 76 hours—achieving the longest run at No. 1 of any Korean song in the history of the chart.

In addition to its record-breaking achievements in Japan, “Christmas Tree” has also been making history in other countries as well. “Christmas Tree” took just 18 days to surpass 20 million streams on Spotify, making it the fastest song by a Korean male solo artist to achieve the feat.

V also made Billboard history in the United States, where he became the first Korean artist ever to debut a solo song at No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart (and “Christmas Tree” became the first Korean OST song ever to top the chart).

Congratulations to V on his amazing achievements!
