"Reply 1988" Actor Choi Sung Won Confirmed For First Drama Since Leukemia Treatment

Actor Choi Sung Won will be resuming his work after being treated for leukemia.

Choi Sung Won was diagnosed with acute leukemia in May 2016 and was declared cancer-free in December 2016. He returned to acting in 2017, but had to undergo treatment for leukemia again in November 2020.

On January 18, the agency Wide-S Company confirmed, “We recently signed an exclusive contract with Choi Sung Won. It is true that he will be appearing in the MBC drama, ‘From Now On, Showtime!’. He is currently at the stage where he is slowly resuming activities while being cautious of his health and recovery.”

“From Now On, Showtime!” (literal translation) is an upcoming fantasy rom-com drama from MBC about a popular magician who can summon ghosts and a passionate police constable with supernatural powers. It stars Park Hae Jin, Jin Ki Joo, Jung Joon Ho, and more and is slated to premiere in March.

Choi Sung Won has been cast as the husband of a newlywed couple in the drama.

Other actors at Wide-S Company include Kim Young Kwang, Choi Tae Hwan, and Jung Soo Han.
