Park Min Young Talks About The Difficulties Of Acting In "Forecasting Love And Weather," How She Prepared For Her Role, And More
Park Min Young talked about her upcoming role in JTBC’s “Forecasting Love and Weather”!
“Forecasting Love and Weather” is a new office romance drama about the work and love lives of the people at the Korea Meteorological Administration, who are more passionate than tropical heat and more unpredictable than torrential rainfall. Park Min Young stars as Jin Ha Kyung, a general forecaster who is highly organized, does everything by the book, and is fastidious about keeping her personal and professional lives separate.
Regarding her new role, the actress shared, “The project felt refreshing to me since it is the first to deal with the Korea Meteorological Administration as the background.” She continued, “Since it is a field that is not easy to come across, it was difficult to collect information. I practiced while looking at novels, videos, and documentaries, but the terminology did not stick to me at first. The actors often joked that a medical drama would have been better.”
Similar to the detailed way Jin Ha Kyung deals with the weather, Park Min Young also thoroughly analyzed the project and did her research. She styled herself with clean-cut and simple formal wear that is often seen amongst government employees, and she used her sharp acting and accurate diction to portray her role as a general forecaster. Park Min Young remarked, “I hope the drama becomes a good project since I painfully thought over and researched [the role].”
To describe her character, the actress called Jin Ha Kyung a voluntary outsider, typical workaholic, and a fool at dating. She elaborated, “As a principled person, she lacks a bit of flexibility. She really loves her job, and when she focuses on her work, it comes before love. She does her job perfectly like this, but if you look closely, she has a lot of fears and does not know how to date.” Park Min Young added, “That is why she is more lovable.”
Park Min Young revealed that one of the points she is looking forward to most in the drama is how the gentle and pure-hearted director Cha Young Hoon, who communicates well with the actors and overflows with passion, will portray the romantic emotional scenes in the drama. In the romance aspect of the story, Jin Ha Kyung feels the cruel reality and repercussions of pursuing an office romance after she breaks up with her ex-boyfriend Han Ki Joon (Yoon Bak), who works as a weatherman with the spokesperson’s office. However, she will eventually meet special reporter Lee Si Woo (Song Kang), who will set her heart on fire once more.
On the upcoming romance, the actress shared, “Please have fun watching the process of the two helping each other grow as they clash, since their entire personalities and dispositions are completely opposite, rather than a simple romance between an older woman and younger man.”
“Forecasting Love and Weather” will premiere on February 12 at 10:30 p.m. KST. Check out a teaser here!
