Song Kang Shares Reason For Choosing "Forecasting Love And Weather," The Charms Of His New Character, And More
Song Kang talked about his upcoming JTBC weekend drama “Forecasting Love and Weather”!
“Forecasting Love and Weather” is a new office romance drama about the work and love lives of the people at the Korea Meteorological Administration, who are more passionate than tropical heat and more unpredictable than torrential rainfall.
Song Kang will be starring as Lee Si Woo, a free spirit who is always thinking outside the box. Although he can appear clumsy, he boasts an impressive IQ of 150 and is able to achieve anything once he sets his mind to it. However, in spite of his intelligence and abilities, all he cares about is the weather.
The actor revealed that he decided to star in “Forecasting Love and Weather” because of the subject and script. He explained, “I liked the fresh subject of the Korea Meteorological Administration. The story of various characters in that background was also interesting. While reading the script, there were parts that made me smile and laugh, and I found them very attractive.”
Of course, what he fell in love with the most is his character Lee Si Woo. He shared, “He’s very clear and pure, and he’s also refreshing. He’s bright and optimistic, and he has pleasant energy. But when it comes to the weather, he’s more sincere and serious than anyone else.”
However, it’s not easy playing a character who is very earnest about the weather. Song Kang commented, “I searched for weather-related documentaries, and there were many technical terms I encountered for the first time, so I studied [them] a lot. I recited my lines wherever I went so that I could learn the terms naturally.” The actor also cut his hair very short in order to portray a pure and cheerful character.
One of the biggest key points that the viewers are most looking forward to is his chemistry with Park Min Young, who is also known as a “romance goddess.” Park Min Young stars as Jin Ha Kyung, a general forecaster who is highly organized, does everything by the book, and is fastidious about keeping her personal and professional lives separate.
Song Kang teased, “I think we can present an unpredictable romance that has never been seen in previous dramas,” hinting the unpredictable love story between the two opposite characters.
On the upcoming romance, Song Kang shared, “I was nervous because it was my first professional role, but I thought and studied a lot about how [I could act so that] viewers will be able to watch comfortably. I’m also looking forward to how the scenes that I worked hard on will come out.” He expressed his wish that the drama will showcase various characters, their chemistry, plot developments that go back and forth between sincerity and laughter, and a story that everyone can relate to.
“Forecasting Love and Weather” will premiere on February 12 at 10:30 p.m. KST. Check out a teaser here!
