Lee Hyori Confirmed To Star In PD Kim Tae Ho's New Variety Show Airing This Month
Producing director (PD) Kim Tae Ho has been confirmed to be teaming up with Lee Hyori and TVING for a new variety show!
Earlier this year, PD Kim Tae Ho left MBC after 21 years with the broadcasting network. Soon afterwards, it was reported that he was in talks to create a new variety show with Lee Hyori, which has now been confirmed.
The program, called “Seoul Check-In” (literal title), is a TVING original reality show that will follow Lee Hyori’s life in Seoul. As Lee Hyori has lived on Jeju Island for nine years, the show will depict where the star sleeps, who she meets, and where she goes after finishing her promotional activities in Seoul. Since Lee Hyori is so used to being surrounded by nature on Jeju Island, she will be able to showcase a completely different lifestyle.
Kim Tae Ho and Lee Hyori have known each other since MBC’s variety show “Infinite Challenge.” She also made a special appearance on “How Do You Play?” when she became part of the project group SSAK3 with Yoo Jae Suk and Rain, as well as the group Refund Sisters alongside Uhm Jung Hwa, Jessi, and MAMAMOO‘s Hwasa.
“Seoul Check-in” was inspired by the time Lee Hyori promoted with these two groups. For these group promotions, Lee Hyori would arrive in Seoul wearing a hat, flip-flops, and a backpack, and she would ask questions like, “Where should I sleep tonight?” “Since I’m in Seoul anyway, should I meet up with someone?” and “They say Seongsu-dong is hip—should I check it out?”
Not only will the program capture Lee Hyori’s adventurous side, it will also detail how the star has become unfamiliar with the city, her thoughts and concerns, and her honest conversations with the people she meets up with.
“Seoul Check-In” will premiere on January 29 at 12 p.m. through TVING’s OTT platforms.
In the meantime, watch “How Do You Play?” below!
