BTS, TWICE, ITZY, And BLACKPINK Earn Platinum, Gold, And Silver RIAJ Certifications For Streaming In Japan

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!

In 2020, the RIAJ implemented a new certification system for online streaming of songs, as an addition to its pre-existing certification systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales. According to the new system, songs are certified silver once they reach 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, and platinum at 100 million streams.

In the RIAJ’s newly announced batch of certifications (dated December 2021), BTS, TWICE, and ITZY all received multiple official certifications for streaming.

TWICE’s Korean hit “I CAN’T STOP ME,” as well as BTS’s Japanese songs “Lights” and “Film out,” were all certified platinum after surpassing 100 million streams each.

Meanwhile, TWICE’s English-language single “The Feels” and BTS’s Korean hit “Spring Day” both received official gold certifications after reaching 50 million streams each.

ITZY also earned two gold certifications for their Korean songs “DALLA DALLA” and “ICY.”

Additionally, TWICE earned a total of three silver certifications for their Japanese songs “I WANT YOU BACK,” “BETTER,” and “Perfect World,” all of which surpassed 30 million streams.

Finally, BTS’s B-side “Blue & Grey” and BLACKPINK’s “FOREVER YOUNG” (Korean version) were also both certified silver after reaching 30 million streams each.

Congratulations to BTS, TWICE, ITZY, and BLACKPINK!
