YG Reveals TREASURE's New "JIKJIN" MV Cost As Much As Some Of BLACKPINK's MVs

YG Entertainment has revealed just how much they spent on TREASURE’s upcoming music video for “JIKJIN”!

The rookie boy group is currently gearing up for their first comeback in over a year: after releasing their first studio album “THE FIRST STEP : THE TREASURE EFFECT” in January 2021, TREASURE will be making their long-awaited return with their first mini album “THE SECOND STEP : CHAPTER ONE” on February 15.

YG Entertainment has now shared that the music video for TREASURE’s new title track “JIKJIN” cost a whopping 500 million won (approximately $416,738) to produce. According to the agency, that sort of budget is normally reserved for the comebacks of established big-name artists like BLACKPINK, as opposed to rookie groups—but YG Entertainment chose to make the investment because they have high hopes for TREASURE’s comeback.

The music video for “JIKJIN” was directed by Lee Sang Yoon, the former Mnet producing director (PD) responsible for some of the most legendary performances from the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), as well as BLACKPINK’s Lisa‘s wildly popular performance video for her hit solo B-side “MONEY.”

Lee Sang Yoon is now an in-house chief producer at YG Entertainment, and the agency stated that it plans to expand the amount of content it produces within the company.

“As the number of our agency’s artists and the amount of content they produce continue to grow, we decided that we needed to create a faster and more efficient system,” explained YG Entertainment. “In addition to continuing to work with famous directors outside the company, we plan to continuously upgrade the diversity of our projects through an internal content production system.”

“For the ‘JIKJIN’ music video, to match the song’s lyrics that awaken the instinct to race ahead at full speed, we mobilized super cars worth hundreds of millions of won,” the agency continued. “We are doing our utmost up until the very end to increase the quality of the music video.”

Both “THE SECOND STEP : CHAPTER ONE” and TREASURE’s music video for “JIKJIN” will be released on February 15 at 6 p.m. KST.
