"Squid Game" Cast Makes History With 3 Wins At 28th SAG Awards
“Squid Game” is continuing to make historic wins!
The 28th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards took place on February 27 local time at Santa Monica, California. Lee Jung Jae and Jung Ho Yeon each took a win for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series in the male and female divisions, making them the first Korean actors to win these awards in the drama series category. They are also the first actors of Asian nationality to do so.
During his acceptance speech, Lee Jung Jae shared, “Oh my. Thank you so much. This is truly huge. I wrote something, but I don’t think I can read it. Thank you so much, SAG Awards. Thank you to the global audience for all of your love for ‘Squid Game,’ and thank you ‘Squid Game’ team!”
Jung Ho Yeon shared, “First of all, thank you so much. I have seen many of the actors in the audience through the TV screen, dreaming of becoming an actress one day while watching you all. Thank you for making me dream and opening the door for me. I love you my ‘Squid Game’ crew!”
Furthermore, “Squid Game” also won Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series, winning against the other nominees “Cobra Kai,” “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” “Loki,” and “Mare of Easttown” and landing them a total of three wins out of their four total nominations.

Earlier on January 12, “Squid Game” made history by scoring four nominations for the 28th SAG Awards. “Squid Game” became the first non-English language TV series ever to be nominated for an award. The show was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series, while actors Lee Jung Jae and Jung Ho Yeon snagged nominations for the top prizes for individual actors.
Lee Jung Jae faced off against Brian Cox (“Succession”), Billy Crudup (“The Morning Show”), Kieran Culkin (“Succession”), and Jeremy Strong (“Succession”). Meanwhile, Jung Ho Yeon went up against Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Sarah Snook (“Succession”), and Reese Witherspoon (“The Morning Show”).
