BTS Sets 3 New Guinness World Records For Highest Social Media Follower Counts
BTS has set three new Guinness World Records!
Over the past month, BTS has set new records on social media platforms Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter.
By February 2022, BTS had reached 60,151,959 followers on Instagram, which is the biggest following of any music group on the platform. The previous record was also held by BTS, who initially broke the record in April 2021 after reaching over 40,220,226 followers.
The group continued to break records when the members made individual accounts in December 2021. In just over 5 hours, V broke the world records for the fastest times to reach both 1 million and 10 million followers on Instagram.
Their success carries over to TikTok where BTS’s official account has 45.7 million followers, a number that continues to grow every day. This follower count makes them the music group with the most followers on TikTok and also places them in No. 16 among the platform’s overall most popular accounts.
To no one’s surprise, BTS is also the most followed music group ever on Twitter with over 44,167,059 followers (at the time of writing). The record was last set by One Direction, who impressively amassed over 31.7 million followers in 2017.
In addition to having an incredible amount of followers, BTS hold various other world records related to Twitter. On April 29, 2019, BTS and their fans ARMY registered 422,228 engagements on the platform which set records for the most Twitter engagements (average retweets) for a music group (which they have broken four times) and the most Twitter engagements (average retweets).
BTS now has a total of 28 world record titles and were inducted into the Guinness World Records Hall of Fame in September 2021 for their achievements.
Congratulations to BTS!
