Han Ji Min, Girl's Day's Hyeri, Jang Sung Kyu, And More Donate To Relief Efforts In Ukraine
Various stars have made donations to show their support for Ukraine.
On March 8, the Korean Committee for UNICEF revealed that actress Han Ji Min had donated 100 million won (approximately $81,185) to aid young Ukrainian children. Her donation will go towards drinking water, education, health assistance, and protection for the children.
Han Ji Min commented, “I want to contribute at least a bit of strength to helping the citizens and children of Ukraine return to their daily lives. I hope that the peaceful day comes soon where Ukrainian children smile as they attend school.”
Girl’s Day’s Hyeri also made a generous donation of 50 million won (approximately $40,590) to the NGO (non-governmental organization) Save the Children, for children in Ukraine. This donation will contribute to diapers, formula, food, and emergency food supplies, as well as programs and education for children’s protection and mental health. It will also assist with COVID-19 prevention measures, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and the distribution of hygiene kits.
Hyeri commented, “I am making a small contribution to become of at least a little bit of strength to the powerless children enduring difficult times in this war. I wish for a world without war and horror.”
On Instagram, Jang Sung Kyu shared his donation of 30 million won (approximately $24,355) to the Hope Bridge Association of the National Disaster Relief. He wrote in the caption, “I cannot dare account for the feelings of those who have suffered..but I hope my small heart can become of some comfort.” He added the hashtags “Donghae Wildfire Extinguishing” and “Ukraine Peace.”

On March 7, actor Lee Kwang Ki donated 30 million won to the NGO World Vision and commented, “I decided on this donation after thinking about how the danger and horrors that children are facing due to the situation in Ukraine are a different kind of pain to something we may endure too. I hope this donation will be of at least a little bit of help and I especially hope that even through this pain, the children who will carry our future do not lose hope.”
Writer Kim Eun Hee and her husband, director Jang Hang Joon, also donated 30 million won to UNICEF. Earlier this month, Im Siwan shared his donation for the citizens of Ukraine, and actress Lee Young Ae was commended by Ukraine ambassador Dmytro Ponomarenko for her donation and letter.
