BTS' Suga And Kim Hee Sun Donate To Help Wildfire Victims
BTS’ Suga and Kim Hee Sun have made thoughtful donations to aid victims of the ongoing wildfire that began on the eastern coast of Korea earlier this month.
On Friday, March 4, a large wildfire began on the eastern coast of Korea on a mountain near the seaside town of Uljin in North Gyeongsang Province. It spread to the nearby city of Samcheok in Gangwon Province and has continued to spread to other eastern coastal cities like Donghae and Gangneung.
Other stars like Shin Min Ah, Park Min Young, Lee Jong Suk, Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Hye Soo, IU, Kim Go Eun, Lee Byung Hun, Girl’s Day’s Hyeri, and Song Kang Ho have donated to the cause as well.
On March 9, Hope Bridge Association of the National Disaster Relief shared that Suga donated 100 million won (approximately $81,000). According to the association, Suga made the donation in celebration of his birthday (March 9). He conveyed his warm heart, saying, “I hope [my donation] will be used for residents who are suffering from the damages of the wildfire.”
Kim Jung Hee, the secretary general of Hope Bridge, shared, “With the warm hearts of Suga, a member of the global artist BTS, and their fans, we will do our best to support the victims of the wildfire so that they can get back on their feet again.”
This isn’t the first time Suga has done a good deed for his birthday. Last year, Suga donated 100 million won to help treat pediatric cancer patients.
Kim Hee Sun made a donation of 100 million won through the Republic of Korea National Red Cross. Through the organization, the actress commented, “I made a donation to share the pain of residents who lost their homes due to the unexpected wildfire and to help rebuild the forest a little. I hope that the suffering victims can return to their daily lives and that the forest destroyed by the wildfire can be restored as soon as possible.”
Kim Hee Sun previously donated 100 million won in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and purchase masks and hand sanitizers.
