BTS, SEVENTEEN, TXT, ENHYPEN, ITZY, And TREASURE Win At 36th Japan Gold Disc Awards

The Japan Gold Disc Awards has revealed this year’s winners, and BTS has set a new record!

On March 14, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) officially announced the winners of the 36th Japan Gold Disc Awards.

BTS took home a record 10 awards this year, making them the first foreign artist in history ever to win 10 awards in a single year. Not only did the group win Artist of the Year (Asia) for the fourth year in a row, but they also won Album of the Year (Asia) for their Japanese compilation album “BTS, THE BEST” and Music Video of the Year (Asia) for “Map of the Soul ON:E.”

This year’s Best 3 Albums (Asia) awards went to SEVENTEEN’s “Attacca,” TXT’s “Chaotic Wonderland,” and BTS’s “BTS, THE BEST.”

BTS’s smash hit “Butter” snagged the awards for both Song of the Year by Download (Asia) and Song of the Year by Streaming (Asia), while BTS and Coldplay’s collab track “My Universe” won Song of the Year by Download (Western).

Both BTS’s “Permission to Dance” and “Butter” each won one of this year’s Best 5 Songs by Streaming Awards (which include Japanese and Western songs), while “Butter” also won one of the Best 5 Songs by Download awards.

Meanwhile, over in the new artists category, ENHYPEN won New Artist of the Year (Asia). This year’s Best 3 New Artists (Asia) awards went to ITZY, ENHYPEN, and TREASURE, all of whom made their official Japanese debut in 2021.
