Hong Ji Yoon Is Sung Hoon's Bold Wife Who Struggles To Keep Their Marriage Intact In "Woori The Virgin"
SBS has shared its first glimpse of Hong Ji Yoon in the upcoming drama “Woori the Virgin”!
“Woori the Virgin” is about a woman named Oh Woo Ri (Im Soo Hyang), who is strictly maintaining her chastity before marriage, but ends up pregnant after an accident occurs during a medical exam. It is a Korean remake of the American rom-com “Jane the Virgin,” which is based on a Venezuelan telenovela.
Hong Ji Yoon will star as Lee Ma Ri, a woman who is completely fake except for her beautiful looks. She is a calculating woman who intentionally targeted Raphael (Sung Hoon) in order to marry him, but she has an unexpected side of her that makes her difficult to hate. In particular, Lee Ma Ri is struggling to save her marriage with Raphael, who wants a divorce from her. As she gets entangled with Oh Woo Ri, who becomes pregnant with Raphael’s baby by accident, and her loyal boyfriend Lee Kang Jae (Shin Dong Wook), things are expected to take an interesting turn.
On April 22, the drama shared stills of Hong Ji Yoon as Lee Ma Ri. In the photos, Lee Ma Ri grabs attention with her alluring atmosphere and fatal eyes that are full of desire. One photo depicts her holding baby shoes in her palms, but her meaningful smile piques curiosity about what she has up her sleeve. Another still captures her looking utterly speechless as she comes across an unexpected incident.
The drama’s production team commented, “Actress Hong Ji Yoon surprised the staff by becoming one with Lee Ma Ri from the first script reading. She convincingly portrayed Lee Ma Ri, the incarnation of desire, with her gaze and emotional acting that changed according to the situations. We believe Hong Ji Yoon, who has showed her unique charms, will mesmerize the viewers with her acting that has gotten more mature.”
“Woori the Virgin” will premiere on May 9 at 10 p.m. KST. Check out a teaser for the drama here!
