Im Soo Hyang, Sung Hoon, Shin Dong Wook, And More Share What To Look Forward To In "Woori The Virgin"

As the premiere of the new SBS drama “Woori the Virgin” approaches, the main cast talked about what viewers should look forward to!

A remake of the hit American show “Jane the Virgin” (which was itself based on a Venezuelan telenovela), “Woori the Virgin” tells the story of a woman named Oh Woo Ri who has been strictly maintaining her chastity before marriage but winds up pregnant after an accidental artificial insemination during a medical exam.

Im Soo Hyang, who will star as the titular Oh Woo Ri, shared, “In the drama, the realistic story of Oh Woo Ri’s family and the fantasy elements of Raphael’s (Sung Hoon’s) family will combine to reveal a different kind of fun. It’s really interesting to see what happens every time two families with opposite atmospheres meet.”

She added, “[Viewers] can enjoy the chemistry and comedy elements of Hong Eun Hee (who plays Oh Woo Ri’s mother) and Kim Soo Ro (who plays Oh Woo Ri’s father), and the family story of Oh Woo Ri, her mother, and grandmother (Yeon Woon Kyung) will be heartwarming. In fact, it is a spectacular drama with many interesting stories of all the characters, so they could all be key points. Please focus on the story that will occur for an hour.”

Sung Hoon will play Raphael, the CEO of a large company and the biological father of Woo Ri’s child. The actor said, “It’s a romantic comedy drama that everyone can watch together and laugh comfortably, but behind the laughter, it’s a series that leaves a deep, lingering impression. When you see the characters’ situations, you’ll ask yourself, ‘What would I do if I were Oh Woo Ri or Raphael?'”

Shin Dong Wook will take on the role of Lee Kang Jae, Oh Woo Ri’s longtime boyfriend who is also a violent crimes detective. He explained, “If you’ve watched the original series, you might think Lee Kang Jae’s character is different, but as the drama progresses to the second half, the violent crimes detective Lee Kang Jae and the Lee Kang Jae whom Oh Woo Ri is in love with will be completely divided into two, so please tune in to the broadcast.”

Hong Eun Hee’s character Oh Eun Ran raised Oh Woo Ri by herself while giving up her dreams to become a singer. The actress shared, “Please pay attention to why Oh Eun Ran is obsessed with her dream of becoming a singer. There is a clear reason, and it’s not just because she wants to achieve her unfinished dream. If you catch that part, you’ll understand the flow of the drama and enjoy it.”

Hong Ji Yoon will transform into Raphael’s wife Lee Ma Ri, a beautiful con artist whose life is all a lie except her face. She said, “It’s a warm drama that includes love, touching [emotions], and laughter that can be relatable to all generations. The characters’ narratives are attractive, and I hope you can sympathize while watching how a series of processes that begins with an accident will come to an end.”

“Woori the Virgin” premieres on May 9 at 10 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki.
