PENTAGON’s Hongseok, Jung Woo Jin, Lee So Hee, and Shin So Hyun will be starring in a new KakaoTV original drama titled “Aquaman” (literal title)!
“Aquaman” is a campus drama about the special nine-year-long friendship between Shin Na Ru and Ji Sung Joon, who starts to meddle in Shin Na Ru’s love affairs. The drama is based on a popular webtoon of the same name serialized on Kakao Webtoon with over 180 million total views and a 9.9 rating, receiving much love for its delicate portrayal of friendship and love among youth.
Hongseok will play Ji Sung Joon who has been close friends with Shin Na Ru and Choi So Ra for nine years since high school. Although he appears cold on the outside, Ji Sung Joon is a warmhearted character who is always dating someone due to his charming looks and great social skills. However, Ji Sung Joon gets sensitive when it comes to his longtime friend Shin Na Ru. This project will allow fans to see Hongseok in a drama after he recently enlisted in the military earlier this month.
Having impressed in the web drama “Sometoon 2020,” Jung Woo Jin will be taking on the role of Shin Na Ru, a rising star and genius in the art world who is recognized as one of the young artists representing Korea. Despite his gentle appearance, he gives off a sharp vibe, acting cynical towards the new people he meets. However, he opens up his heart to Ji Sung Joon and Choi So Ra.
Lee So Hee of the web dramas “Oh, Yeojeong” and “To.two” will be playing Shin Na Ru and Ji Sung Joon’s close friend Choi So Ra who attends the same department as Shin Na Ru. She has a great personality, overflowing with affection for Ji Sung Joon and Shin Na Ru since she considers loyalty and friendship to be very important. Already, viewers are looking forward to the three friends’ close dynamic.
Finally, Shin So Hyun, who starred in the web drama “USER NOT FOUND” and in “Thirty-Nine” as the younger Cha Mi Jo (Son Ye Jin) in high school, will be transforming into the cheerful 20-year-old college student Yoo So Mi. She is the type of character to achieve whatever she desires, being certain about her likes and dislikes. Having found studying and making friends easy, she also believes that dating will be just as easy if she puts her mind to it. She falls in love with Shin Na Ru at first sight, and she boldly sets out to make her fate.
The production team shared, “We’ve completed the energetic lineup of youths with Hongseok, Jung Woo Jin, Lee So Hee, and Shin So Hyun. Please look very forward to the heart-fluttering story of friendship and love that the four characters with their own unique traits and charms will portray on campus.”
