aespa Named As One Of The "Next Generation Leaders" By TIME Magazine

TIME Magazine has named aespa as one of their 10 “Next Generation Leaders” of 2022!

On May 12 local time, TIME Magazine unveiled their list of “Next Generation Leaders,” which highlights rising stars who are guiding the way to a brighter future. aespa is named alongside people like Olga Rudenko, the chief editor of the Kyiv Independent, Jonathan Bailey of “Bridgerton,” and YouTuber Deepica Mutyala.

The magazine caught up with aespa ahead of their Coachella performance at the end of April, which was also one of the few times aespa has performed in front of a live audience. Although the group is less than two years old, the magazine applauds aespa’s unique way of bridging the gap between reality and the virtual world with their virtual avatar counterparts, æ-aespa.

Also emphasized in the article is aespa’s global success with such a small discography, with their first mini album “Savage” debuting at No. 20 on the Billboard 200. aespa’s debut music video “Black Mamba” also surpassed 100 million views faster than any other K-pop debut.

The group elaborated on their metaverse concept, with Giselle stating that their goal is to “normalize metaverse concepts and have our fans and other people be a little more comfortable with the whole idea of it.”

Later this summer, aespa will join their SM Entertainment labelmates for their first offline agency-wide concert in three years.
