IVE's An Yu Jin Opens Up About Why She Wasn't Able To Enjoy Their 1st Win + How Being In IVE Has Changed Her

In a recent interview and pictorial for Marie Claire magazine, An Yu Jin opened up about how she’s changed since IVE’s debut!

On the day she posed for her shoot, An Yu Jin had just come from winning first place on a music show with IVE’s hit comeback track “LOVE DIVE.”

Back when IVE debuted with “ELEVEN” last December, the group won their first music show trophy for the song in just seven days, setting a new record for the fastest girl group to achieve their first music show win. However, An Yu Jin confessed that at the time, she hadn’t been able to enjoy their achievements due to concerns about the future—but that her attitude had changed in the months since, making it possible for her to enjoy their successful promotions for “LOVE DIVE.”

“The first time we won first place, I wasn’t able to enjoy it,” recalled An Yu Jin. “I kept worrying about our next steps, thinking, ‘What do we do from now on?’ But starting from when we were preparing for this round of promotions, I gradually began to feel more certain and confident. The more certain I felt, the more I was able to enjoy it.”

An Yu Jin also spoke about how being a member of IVE has changed her as a person. When asked what she wanted IVE to show the public through their promotions, she replied, “There’s a lyric in ‘LOVE DIVE’ that goes ‘If you want, dare to dive in,’ and I found that so appealing. I can’t say that IVE and I are exactly alike, but maybe because it’s the image that I want to become, as I go about my life as a member of IVE and make music that conveys a message of independence, I find myself changing as well. I also want to keep showing the side of myself in the future that is most like IVE.”
