“My Liberation Notes” has come to an end, and although the series is completed, people are left ogling over “Gu-sshi.” Son Suk Ku left quite the impression on viewers with his portrayal as the quiet and tough alcoholic who only has a soft spot for Yeom Mi Jung (Kim Ji Won). Fans couldn’t help but be impressed with the duality and complexity of his character as well as how well Son Suk Ku portrayed this role.

1. Son Suk Ku was painfully shy as a child
Son Suk Ku revealed in an interview that he was so shy as a child that he didn’t have any friends. In an attempt to transform himself into a cool and outgoing person, he decided to go overseas to study in hopes that he could return to South Korea as confident as ever. He had his heart set on the States.

2. Son Suk Ku studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago
From middle school onwards, Son Suk Ku decided that he wanted to study visual arts and film in hopes of becoming a director one day. After studying for quite a while, he realized that it wasn’t really for him and decided to travel to Iraq where he voluntarily enlisted to fulfill his military duties.
3. He played basketball in Canada
Son Suk Ku mentioned in an interview that he played a lot of basketball in his downtime while being in the military. After being discharged, he developed a dream of becoming a basketball player. While living in Canada with his sibling, he practiced basketball for most of the day. With his free time, he decided to enroll in some acting classes.

4. After taking acting classes, he realized he was good at it
This led to Son Suk Ku giving up on basketball and starting to audition for roles. His first big role was as Detective Mun in “Sense8.”
5. His first time directing was for the “Unframed” project
His good friend Lee Je Hoon had approached Son Suk Ku with this idea and project, which is a series of short films with different directors. Lee Je Hoon would give him all creative rights to do whatever he wanted with his film. He could even act in it if he wanted. Son Suk Ku was excited to take it on, and he decided he wanted to direct a film for the project.
6. His MBTI is ENFP
Son Suk Ku’s drive and passion for various things in life has brought him to be very extroverted. He reveals that if he had not taken the initiative to study overseas as a child, he would have continued to be introverted and shy.
7. He is currently starring in the movie “The Outlaws 2”
“The Outlaws 2” stars Ma Dong Seok and Son Suk Ku and is a sequel to the 2017 action film “The Outlaws.” Son Suk Ku revealed in an interview that his character is very villainous and sexy. It is the first movie to pass 5 million viewers since 2019, and it is only continuing to break records!

As a result of studying in the United States and Canada, Son Suk Ku speaks very fluent English. He was able to use this skill in various roles including “Sense8” and the Korean remake of “Suits.”

Son Suk Ku used to work as the CEO of a large distribution company called GOMT. It is a machine tool manufacturing company. He decidedly stepped away from the role to focus on his acting career.
