Yoo Ji Tae, Lee Min Jung, Kwak Do Won, And Lee Beom Soo Confirmed For Upcoming Crime Drama
Yoo Ji Tae, Lee Min Jung, Kwak Do Won, and Lee Beom Soo have been confirmed for an upcoming crime drama!
In May, it was reported that Lee Min Jung, Yoo Ji Tae, and Kwak Do Won were in discussions to appear in TVING’s original series “The Golden Age of Villains” (literal title).
Now named “Villains” (literal title), the crime series follows the intense and competitive story of villains and their encounter with incredibly precise counterfeit bills called “Super Note.”
The drama will be directed by Jin Hyuk who worked on “Sisyphus,” “Legend of the Blue Sea,” and “Master’s Sun,” and is written by director Kim Hyung Joon of the thriller film “No Mercy.”
Yoo Ji Tae stars as a genius architect of crime who goes by the code name “J.” He’s known as a sociopath with a perfect crime rate who believes his crimes are a work of art.
In her first drama in two years, Lee Min Jung will make a powerful transformation into Han Soo Hyun, the best artist of counterfeit bills. While living a hopeless life, Han Soo Hyun encounters a producer of counterfeit bills and learns the ropes to become the best in the business. Five years prior, her life fell apart because of a project designed by J, so when he suddenly reappears in her life, she dives into a whirlwind of greed in order to get revenge.
Kwak Do Won portrays detective Jang Joong Hyuk, the final boss of all evil who steals money from thieves without shedding a tear or a drop of a blood. With no prestigious education and no connections, Jang Joong Hyuk is forced to face reality very early in his life. As he becomes obsessed with money, he intervenes in various fields and ends up as a corrupt detective. From his perspective, wrongdoings eventually turn into money and promotions, which he thinks justifies his criminal behaviour.
Lee Beom Soo will play the role of Cha Gi Tae, the former head of the National Intelligence Service Financial Crimes Team. While on the hunt for J, who caused trouble in his life, the various characters entangled in the incident from five years ago begin to resurface, resuming his relentless pursuit.
The production team of “Villains” commented, “The competition between the villains, who each have their own goals and ambitions, as they chase after the incredibly precise counterfeit bills ‘Super Note’ will unfold in a dynamic manner. It’ll be good if you look forward to the synergy between the acting gods whom we trust in.”
“Villains” will premiere in 2023 on TVING.
