(G)I-DLE's Yuqi Dishes On 1st World Tour, Passion For Making Music, And More

(G)I-DLE’s Yuqi has participated in a solo pictorial and interview with Elle!

The idol showed off various stylish looks in crop tops, cargo pants, sunglasses, and more, and she exuded confident charisma and refreshing charms during the photo shoot.

In the accompanying interview, Yuqi shared her thoughts about the group’s first world tour that kicked off on June 18. Their first stop was Seoul, and she commented, “I was somewhat grateful and moved to hear that the Seoul concerts were sold out in a flash. [The fans] are coming because they believe in our performances, so I want to repay them with performances that they’ll want to see again.”

Back in March, (G)I-DLE released their first full-length studio album “I NEVER DIE” along with the music video for the title track “TOMBOY.” Two of the tracks, “Polaroid” and “Liar,” have been written and composed by Yuqi. Not only that, but she also composed the song “Rain” for fellow member Miyeon’s solo debut mini album “MY.

Yuqi remarked, “Soyeon the executive producer, makes the final decisions about what songs to include in the album, and she doesn’t just pick the songs because they were self-composed by the members. The members  alsoobjectively evaluate the songs to see if they’re good or not. But my song was chosen. I felt recognized as a composer. No matter how busy I am, I try to constantly work on making music.”

Yuqi also opened up about her true personality. On variety shows, she shows her bright, funny sides, but she shared that she’s also a serious person. She explained, “I’m strong enough. So I’m worried sometimes because [I’m afraid people] will think, ‘Yuqi is always bright and strong, so she’ll be okay no matter what.’ I wondered if I should show when I’m weak and hurt, but my natural tendency doesn’t change.”

She continued, “I’m the type of person who is faithful to my emotions. I cry a lot too. But when I work, I only focus on my goals. I’m self-assertive and stubborn. I used to be very confused whether I was a weak person or a strong person, but now I’m accepting them both as ‘me.’ So I feel at ease.”

Yuqi’s full pictorial and interview will be available in the July issue of Elle.
