Roh Tae Hyun Shares His Thoughts About "Be Mbitious," The Boundary Between A Dancer And An Idol, And More
Roh Tae Hyun featured in the latest issue of @star1!
Roh Tae Hyun participated in the survival “Be Mbitious,” which is a prequel program for solo dancers to compete for a spot in “Mbitious,” a project dance crew that will round out the eight-crew lineup of “Street Man Fighter.” The final members of Mbitious are: 5000, Kim Pyong Ya, former HOTSHOT and JBJ member Roh Tae Hyun, Tarzan, Woo Tae, former INFINITE member Lee Ho Won (Hoya), Jinwoo, and Kim Jung Woo.
Roh Tae Hyun started off the interview by talking about “Be Mbitious.” He commented, “I enjoyed watching the previous show ‘Street Woman Fighter’ so much that I thought there would be one for men. I really wanted to participate in it if I had the chance, so I applied for it.”
He continued, “Rather than being confident about dancing, I thought it would be fun and had a lot of anticipation. I used to [be part of dance] battles, so I knew about the pleasure of the moment when you dance. I was really looking forward to the situation where I could feel that emotion again.”
Roh Tae Hyun became a hot topic in “Be Mbitious” when he boldly said, “I’m an idol, and don’t you think it’d be fun if I beat all the dancers?”
The idol and dancer remarked, “Through this show, I thought that the boundaries between idols and dancers have disappeared a lot. We gathered to compete with [solely our] dance [skills], and our opinions about who’s bad and who’s good were gone a lot by the second half. The viewers also seemed to watch with the thought, ‘There are many good dancers.'”
When asked if he felt any burden from competing, Noh Tae Hyun candidly answered, “As I was away from the dancing scene for a long time, I thought I had nothing to lose.”
Noh Tae Hyun also shared his reactions to hearing compliments about dancing well. He said, “I say this to myself to boost my confidence, but when I hear it from others, I’m so abashed and embarrassed. I never know what to do when I am praised about dancing.”
“Street Man Fighter” is slated to premiere this August.
