Watch: "Alchemy Of Souls" Cast Battles The Cold On Set, Celebrates Jung So Min's Birthday, Welcomes Kim Hyun Sook For Cameo, And More

“Alchemy of Souls” has dropped a making video for Episodes 9 and 10!

Penned by the famous screenwriting duo known as the Hong Sisters, “Alchemy of Souls” is a tvN fantasy romance drama set in the fictional nation of Daeho, a country that does not exist in history or on maps. The drama tells the story of characters whose fates become twisted due to magic that swaps people’s souls.

The first scene features Jung So Min and Lee Jae Wook as they rehearse their hug. They decide that Lee Jae Wook should lean on Jung So Min to better capture their characters’ emotions.

Next, the cast members gather for their party scene and rehearse their timing and lines. After filming diligently, they immediately joke around once cameras stop rolling. Even once filming is completed, the cast shows off their cute friendships by praising one another and saying their farewells.

On a windy day, Hwang Minhyun prepares to film an action scene outside. While bundled up, he tells the camera, “Up until recently, I kept filming on sets, and as soon as it got cold, I suddenly have scenes outside. I’m wearing heated pants that the director gifted me and I’ve layered a few undershirts on top, so I’m very strong.”

Kim Hyun Sook appears for a special appearance as she calls out, “I want to become the persona of [director] Park Joon Hwa! He only ever calls me for special appearances! They said it was a special appearance…but I have about 30 scenes.”

After filming, the actress comments, “It was fun. Since the story is so, so fun, while [filming], I was having so much fun and [I got to see] director Park Joon Hwa for the first time in awhile. I’m so happy he’s doing so well and I filmed so, so enjoyably.”

At night, Lee Jae Wook and Jung So Min get together for a serious scene. Despite their efforts, the solemn scene is interrupted by a dog’s loud barking, making Lee Jae Wook crack a smile. Before they go again, a staff member hands Jung So Min a wooden wedge, which she sits on. The director makes everyone laugh as he confusedly asks, “You’re sitting on the wedge?” The actors then explain that the uneven ledge was causing their hips to ache.

Right after filming this scene, the cast and crew surprise Jung So Min with a little birthday party!
