Kim Sejeong And Nam Yoon Su Showcase Unique Chemistry As Co-Workers Without Anything In Common In "Today's Webtoon"

Kim Sejeong and Nam Yoon Su will transform into co-workers who couldn’t be any more different in “Today’s Webtoon”!

A Korean remake of the popular 2016 Japanese series “Sleepeeer Hit!”, “Today’s Webtoon” is a new SBS drama set against the backdrop of South Korea’s competitive webtoon industry. It will tell the story of On Ma Eum (Kim Sejeong), a former judo athlete who joins Neon Webtoon’s editorial department as a new employee and struggles to mature into a true editor amidst South Korea’s competitive webtoon industry.

Kim Sejeong stars as On Ma Eum who gives up on her Olympic dreams after suffering an injury. However, the optimist then sets her sights on webtoons, which has been her source of comfort since she was an athlete. She enters the webtoon editorial department after beating all odds, and she’s a rookie employee who lives with a positive attitude despite having to overcome many adversities.

Nam Yoon Su stars as Goo Joon Young, who joins the webtoon editorial department alongside On Ma Eum. Elite new employee Goo Joon Young has always been a top student with good looks and a way with his words. Combining these traits with his polite manners and good attitude means he’s in the spotlight no matter where he goes.

One notable difference between On Ma Eum and Goo Joon Young is that she’s thrilled to be part of Neon Webtoon’s editorial department while he’s taken aback that he’s been placed in an unexpected work environment.

In the newly released stills, On Ma Eum and Goo Joon Young are starting to adapt to their new workplace. The key difference is that while On Ma Eum is fired up with positive spirits, Goo Joon Young is struggling already. On Ma Eum displays the qualities of a good co-worker as she helps Goo Joon Young carry some items, including a life-sized standee, whereas Goo Joon Young even has a hard time going up the stairs.

On Ma Eum and Goo Joon Young have completely different backgrounds, personalities, and values. For On Ma Eum, Neon Webtoon is a place that will help her second dream come true, but for Goo Joon Young, it is a place he must escape in order to work for the core department of the company.

Despite having lived as an honors student all his life, the fact that Goo Joon Young has minimal knowledge about webtoons immediately gets him treated at work like an inferior. However, the thing he can’t understand the most is On Ma Eum. He finds her tendency to be passionate and positive in every situation baffling, and it seems like they won’t be able to get along at all. So it will be intriguing to find out what made their camaraderie bloom and how he will open up to her as they grow and learn as new members of the editorial department.

Kim Sejeong gave the chemistry of On Ma Eum and Goo Joon Young 100 out of 100 points and remarked, “Our [characters] are such different rookies that I think the viewers will find them really cute. When I’m with Nam Yoon Su, I find myself smiling without realizing it.”

Nam Yoon Su commented, “For now, I give 70 points to their chemistry. Since there is still a lot of chemistry left to fill, I want to leave the remaining 30 points until the end of the drama.”

“Today’s Webtoon” premieres on July 29 at 10 p.m. KST and will be available with subtitles on Viki.
