NewJeans Breaks Record For Highest 1st-Day Sales Of Any Girl Group Debut Album In Hanteo History

HYBE’s newest girl group NewJeans is already making K-pop history with their debut EP!

On August 8, NewJeans—a rookie girl group launched by Min Hee Jin’s HYBE sub-label ADOR—released the physical version of their self-titled debut EP, which was first released online last week.

According to Hanteo Chart, “New Jeans” sold an impressive total of 262,815 copies on its first day of sales alone—setting a new record for the highest first-day sales of any girl group debut album in Hanteo history. NewJeans is also the only girl group ever to surpass 200,000 sales with their debut album on the first day of its release.

Not only did “New Jeans” make a strong start in terms of physical album sales, but its songs have also been performing well on various online music charts. In the week leading up to the EP’s physical release, NewJeans’ debut title tracks “Attention” and “Hype Boy” swept the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on Spotify Korea’s daily chart for seven days in a row.
