BTS And NCT DREAM Earn Million Circle (Gaon) Certifications; TXT, Nayeon, Kep1er, STAYC, Stray Kids, And More Go Platinum
Circle Chart (formerly known as Gaon Chart) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!
In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association implemented a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming. Starting with music released on or after January 1, 2018, Circle Chart now certifies albums platinum once they reach 250,000 sales, while albums that have sold a million copies or more receive a “million” certification.
On August 11, Circle Chart announced that BTS’s “Proof,” which was released in June, had received an official triple million certification for selling over 3 million copies.
Additionally, NCT DREAM’s repackaged album “Beatbox” sold over 2 million copies since May, earning the group an official double million certification.
Meanwhile, TXT’s 2020 album “minisode1 : Blue Hour” has gone triple platinum after selling over 750,000 copies.
Finally, TWICE’s Nayeon’s debut solo album “IM NAYEON,” Kep1er’s latest release “DOUBLAST,” STAYC’s second mini album “YOUNG-LUV.COM,” and Stray Kids’s 2018 mini album “I am WHO” were all certified platinum after selling over 250,000 copies each.
In the download category, songs are certified platinum once they surpass 2.5 million downloads. This month, IU’s “Blueming” from her 2019 album “Love Poem” as well as Maktub’s “To You My Light” (featuring Lee Raon) both earned platinum certifications.
Finally, Circle Chart announced that Taeyeon’s “Weekend” has gone platinum after surpassing 100 million streams.
Congratulations to all of the artists on their impressive achievements!
