NewJeans Opens Up About Their Debut + Their Strengths As A Group In 1st-Ever Magazine Pictorial

In a recent interview and pictorial for Elle Korea magazine, NewJeans talked about their debut, the bond between the members, and more!

After posing for their first-ever magazine pictorial since their debut, the five members of NewJeans sat down for a post-shoot interview.

Describing the experience of performing for the first time in front of their fans at music shows, Minji shared, “From even before our debut, the thing I looked forward to the most was music shows. Because we prepared all three of our title tracks for a long time, I think we were able to put on good performances, which makes me happy.”

Meanwhile, Danielle confessed, “Because it was the first time we were meeting our fans, I was really nervous. But once I saw all of our members standing together on stage, I became so happy.”

Haerin also revealed that she spends a lot of time thinking about what she could do to improve her performances.

“Even within one song, we need to show lots of different facial expressions and vibes,” she explained, “so I worry about what I can do in order to make all of that unfold in a natural way. There are a lot of things I want to show on stage.”

When asked what they considered their greatest strength as a group, Hanni replied that she thought it was their “relaxed and free vibe.”

She went on to express her gratitude to her bandmates by recalling, “Even up until recently, I had a hard time typing in Korean, but the other members were always nice and helped me out whenever I need it, so I’m grateful to them.”

Meanwile, Hyein revealed, “What I like the most [about our group] is that we take good care of one another and keep an eye on each other. Sometimes, when I’m having a hard time, the other members notice it right away and approach me first.”

As for the kind of relationship she hopes to have with their fans in the future, she remarked, “I hope that we can become like friends to our fans.”
