Jang Dong Yoon, Seol In Ah, And Chu Young Woo Confirmed To Star In New School Drama

Jang Dong Yoon, Seol In Ah, and Chu Young Woo will be starring in a new drama together!

A source from KBS2’s upcoming drama “Oasis” (working title) shared, “Jang Dong Yoon, Seol In Ah, and Chu Young Woo have been cast for the roles of Lee Doo Hak, Oh Jung Shin, and Choi Chul Woong, respectively.”

“Oasis” is a drama about three youths who fight fiercely to protect their dreams and friendship as well as their one and only first love in the turbulent backdrop of South Korea from 1980 to 1990.

Jang Dong Yoon will be playing the role of Lee Doo Hak who has an intelligent mind and clear soul despite growing up in poverty. He harbors a pure love, falling in love at first sight after seeing Oh Jung Shin, a transfer student from Seoul. Lee Doo Hak gets swept up in an unexpected event but still faces his eventful life head on. Jang Dong Yoon previously impressed through diverse projects that highlighted his wide acting spectrum such as “School 2017,” “The Tale of Nokdu,” and “Search.” His upcoming film “Project Wolf Hunting” has been invited to the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the 55th Sitges Film Festival.

Seol In Ah will take on the role of Oh Jung Shin who is always honest and confident. She knows how to fight and stand up against injustice, and she tenaciously charges forward to achieve her dreams. After transferring schools from Seoul, she builds unforgettable memories at school as she develops feelings of love and close friendship with Lee Doo Hak and Choi Chul Woong. Having captivated the hearts of numerous viewers through “A Business Proposal” and “Mr. Queen,” viewers are already anticipating Seo In Ah’s portrayal of Oh Jung Shin as well as her chemistry with Jang Dong Yoon since they starred in “School 2017” together.

Chu Young Woo will play Lee Doo Hak’s childhood friend and fated rival Choi Chul Woong. As an elite student who always takes No. 1 in the entire school, he hates losing. Choi Chul Woong has everything, but he is unable to win one girl’s heart. Chu Young Woo previously starred in “School 2021” and “Police University,” and he is currently gearing up for his upcoming rom-com “Once Upon a Small Town.”

The production team of “Oasis” shared, “[The drama] will deliver new fun to this generation of viewers who are enthusiastic about and relate to the ’80s and ’90s, and we will give an immersive story to the older generations who remember those days. Please highly anticipate the story of youth depicted by Jang Dong Yoon, Seol In Ah, and Chu Young Woo, the three actors who were born in the ’90s.”

“Oasis” will begin filming in September after wrapping up the script reading and air via KBS2 in the first half of 2023.
