BLACKPINK Takes Over Top 2 Spots On Billboard's Global Charts With 'Shut Down' And 'Pink Venom'

BLACKPINK has quickly made it back on top of Billboard’s global charts!

On September 26 local time, Billboard announced that BLACKPINK’s latest title track “Shut Down” off their new studio album “BORN PINK” had debuted on both the Global 200 and the Global Excl. U.S. charts at No. 1!

The Global 200 is based on sales and streaming data from more than 200 territories around the world, while the Global Excl. U.S. chart ranks songs according to data from territories excluding the United States.

This is BLACKPINK’s second time topping the Global 200 after first achieving this feat earlier this month with their pre-release single “Pink Venom.” “Shut Down” now joins “Pink Venom” as the only two K-pop songs released in 2022 to top this chart. On the Global Excl. U.S. chart, “Shut Down” is BLACKPINK’s third song to rank in first, following “Pink Venom” and “Lovesick Girls.”

According to Luminate (formerly MRC Data), during the tracking week of September 16 to 22, “Shut Down” garnered 152.8 million streams and 17,000 downloads around the world. BLACKPINK now joins BTS, Justin Bieber, and Olivia Rodrigo as the only acts to have topped the Global 200 multiple times.

After topping the Billboard Global 200 for two weeks and remaining in the top four for two additional weeks, “Pink Venom” has also sprung back into second place. This makes BLACKPINK the first group and third overall act to rank in No. 1 and No. 2 in the same week on this chart.

Also during the September 16 to 22 tracking week, “Shut Down” recorded 140 million streams and 13,000 downloads in territories excluding the United States to top the Global Excl. U.S. chart, followed closely by “Pink Venom” at No. 2. BLACKPINK now overtakes Justin Bieber to become the act with the second-highest number of No. 1’s on this chart.

On September 25, BLACKPINK made history after “BORN PINK” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s famous Top 200 Albums chart, which ranks the most popular albums in the United States. Not only is BLACKPINK the first female K-pop artist in history to top the Billboard 200, they are now only the fourth act in history to simultaneously debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Global 200, and Global Excl. U.S. charts.

Congratulations to BLACKPINK!
