Han Ji Hyun And Jang Gyuri Are Cheerleaders With 2 Different Kinds Of Determination In New Drama "Cheer Up"
Get ready to fall for two strong female leads in SBS’s upcoming drama “Cheer Up“!
“Cheer Up” is a new campus mystery rom-com about a college cheer squad whose glory days are long gone and is now on the verge of falling apart.
Han Ji Hyun will star as Do Hae Yi, a rookie member of Yonhee University’s cheer squad Theia, who has a cheerful personality despite facing difficult circumstances at home. As the defacto head of her household, Do Hae Yi carries a heavy weight on her shoulders—and she winds up joining Theia in order to earn a part-timer’s wage of 1 million won (approximately $694).
However, once she becomes a member of the squad, she soon finds herself falling in love with the thrill of cheerleading and the sense of accomplishment that comes with it.
Meanwhile, Jang Gyuri will play the role of the cool and feisty Tae Cho Hee, who is Theia’s first-ever female vice-captain. In contrast to Theia’s captain Park Jung Woo (played by Bae In Hyuk), who is a stickler for the rules and believes in doing everything by the book, Tae Cho Hee is extremely results-oriented and is determined to lead the squad to success no matter what it takes.
As a consummate professional, Tae Cho Hee shines brightest when she’s showcasing her skills on stage, and she is intent on proving herself no matter what anyone else says.
The producers of “Cheer Up” commented, “Please keep a close eye on the new history that will be written by passionate college students Do Hae Yi, who is full of spirit, and Tae Cho Hee, who is extremely good at her job.”
They went on to add, “The two characters’ stories will ‘cheer up’ the 20-year-old youths of today, who are currently taking on shiny new challenges and facing repeated failures.”
“Cheer Up” premieres on October 3 at 10 p.m. KST and will be available with subtitles on Viki. Check out a teaser for the drama here!
