Lee Sun Bin In Talks To Star In "Backstreet Rookie" Spin-Off Drama
Actress Lee Sun Bin might star in the spin-off of “Backstreet Rookie“!
On October 25, Lee Sun Bin’s agency Initial Entertainment remarked that the actress was offered a lead role in “Super Couple” (literal title) and is positively reviewing it.
“Backstreet Rookie,” which first aired in August 2020, is a romantic comedy about the unpredictable love story between convenience store owner Choi Dae Hyun (Ji Chang Wook) and part-time employee Jung Saet Byul (Kim Yoo Jung).
“Super Couple” tells the story of a former secret agent of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) who lost her chance at love while protecting the country but reunites with her ex-lover, who is the heir of a chaebol, at a convenience store. Son Geun Joo who wrote the SBS drama “Backstreet Rookie” and Jung Yong Ki who directed Seasons 3 and 5 of the “Marrying the Mafia” series will collaborate for this project.
Lee Sun Bin was offered the role of female lead Min Sa Rang who is a former secret agent of the NIS but is now a salary manager of a convenience store. She accidentally reunites with her ex-lover Cha Joo Hyun, who is the head of the convenience store, and begins an extraordinary collaboration to protect the convenience store.
Lee Sun Bin has built up a strong filmography by portraying colorful characters through dramas such as “Criminal Mind,” “Team Bulldog: Off-duty Investigation,” and “Work Later, Drink Now.” As she has showcased her acting skills in action movies such as “Rampant,” “Okay Madam,” and “Mission Possible,” anticipation is high for Lee Sun Bin’s next acting transformation.
“Super Couple” is currently casting the lead roles and is scheduled to start filming within this year. Stay tuned for more updates!
