New MBC Drama Puts Filming On Hold Following Passing Of Cast Member Lee Ji Han
Filming of MBC’s new drama “Kokdu: Season of Deity” has been put on hold.
On October 31, an official from the production team of “Kokdu: Season of Deity” shared that filming is put on hold for the time being and will resume at a later date.
“Kokdu: Season of Deity” is a fantasy romance which tells the story of a grim reaper named Kokdu (Kim Jung Hyun) who comes down to this world to punish humans every 99 years. Kokdu meets Han Gye Jeol (Im Soo Hyang), a doctor with mysterious abilities, and starts working as a visiting doctor.
It was reported that actor Lee Ji Han, who passed away during this weekend’s Itaewon tragedy, took on the role of Jung Yi Deun, the ex-boyfriend of Han Gye Jeol, and was filming until recently. There are still remaining scenes for the character that have not been filmed, but no decision has been made on the replacement of the actor yet. The production team plans to visit Lee Ji Han’s funeral home today.
On the night of October 29, at least 154 people died—with many others injured—after being crushed in a large crowd during Halloween celebrations in the Itaewon neighborhood of Seoul. The Korean government has designated a national mourning period until November 5.
We offer our deepest condolences to Lee Ji Han’s friends and family during this painful time. May he rest in peace.
