Watch: Kang Ha Neul Begins The Play Of A Lifetime With Go Doo Shim And Ha Ji Won's Family In "Curtain Call" Highlight Reel
KBS2’s upcoming drama “Curtain Call” has dropped a highlight clip ahead of its premiere!
“Curtain Call” tells the story of an elderly hotelier from North Korea who doesn’t have much time left to live and a theatre actor who acts as her grandson in order to fulfill her final wish. Kang Ha Neul stars as Yoo Jae Heon, the unknown theatre actor who undertakes a life-changing endeavor, while Ha Ji Won stars as heiress Park Se Yeon, who manages the Nakwon Hotel owned by her grandmother Ja Geum Soon (Go Doo Shim).
The highlight clip begins with Ja Geum Soon looking at the picture frames hanging on the wall while the magnificent sound of an orchestra plays in the background. The memories contained in the pictures take Ja Geum Soon back to the past days of the Korean War that she experienced as a child. Young Ja Geum Soon (played by Ha Ji Won) fights for her life with her husband Lee Jong Moon (played by Kang Ha Neul) to escape the war and cross the southern part of Korea while aboard the Meredith Victory anchored at Heungnam Pier. Kang Ha Neul and Ha Ji Won, who act out a married couple in Ja Geum Soon’s memory, exude a romantic atmosphere just by looking at each other, making viewers look forward to their chemistry.
The clip then returns to the present era and shows actor Yoo Jae Heon standing on stage in a theater. Jung Sang Chul (Sung Dong Il) approaches Jae Heon, who just finished acting as a North Korean soldier, and makes a shocking offer by saying, “Let’s do a play on a beautiful stage that can change your life,” stimulating viewers’ curiosity about what kind of play the two are about to put on.
In the following clip, Park Se Yeon and her eldest brother Park Se Joon (Ji Seung Hyun) have a heated battle over the selling of the hotel. When Ja Geum Soon shouts with joy, “You found Moon Sung?” the other family members seem to get nervous all at once about who the family member that suddenly appeared is. As the text that reads, “The play of a man’s lifetime begins,” appears on the screen, the clip shows Jung Sang Chul, Yoo Jae Heon, and Seo Yoon Hee (Jung Ji So) drawing a family tree of Ja Geum Soon and putting their heads together as if they are planning something.
