Lee Seung Gi Forwards Notice To Terminate Contract With Hook Entertainment

Lee Seung Gi has requested to terminate his contract with Hook Entertainment.

On December 1, a representative for Lee Seung Gi revealed, “Today, Lee Seung Gi sent a termination notice for his exclusive contract to Hook Entertainment.”

Last month, Lee Seung Gi sent a certification of contents to Hook Entertainment asking for transparent disclosure of payment. A few days later, it was reported that Lee Seung Gi had not received any music profits over the past 18 years, which Hook Entertainment briefly responded to. Following a statement from Lee Seung Gi’s legal representatives regarding the profit issue, Hook Entertainment shared another response denying the claims and saying that they were closely reviewing the matter.

This past week, it was reported that Lee Seung Gi had lent Hook Entertainment’s CEO billions of won (millions of dollars) over the past eight years, which the CEO purchased a luxury apartment with. Hook Entertainment responded that they had nothing to do with the CEO’s personal matters while CEO Kwon Jin Young explained that the apartment purchase had nothing to do with Lee Seung Gi.

On November 28, Lee Seung Gi’s legal representatives shared a new statement to deny Hook Entertainment’s claims about paying the artist his music profits. Shortly after on November 30, Hook Entertainment CEO Kwon Jin Young sent emails to media outlets stating that she will take full responsibility for the controversy related to Lee Seung Gi’s unpaid music profits and that she will dispose of her personal property to carry out the responsibility.
